We spent five nights in the amazing \u015awi\u0119tokrzyski National Park in Poland to do some research of bats in this area. The park is situated in the \u015awi\u0119tokrzyske province, about 30 km east of Kielce. In Poland the superficial preservation of the nature is realized by the active protection (in the partial sanctuaries) and passive protection (in the strict sanctuaries). At present the area of the National Park embraces 7626 hectares, including 1731 hectares under the compact protection. National park is covered by well-preserved forest with a lot of dead wood and old hollow trees.<\/p>\r\n
The main organiser of the event was Dawid Zyskovski from Green Federation GAJA as the Visegrad grant partner NGO. Teacher and students from University of Gdansk were also participating. They ensured all equipment for mistnetting and detectoring of bats and also transport with off-road cars. Together twelve species were captured: Barbastella barbastellus, Eptesicus nilsonii, Eptesicus serotinus<\/em>, Myotis mystacinus, Myotis brandti, Myotis alcathoe, Myotis daubentonii, Myotis nattereri, Myotis myotis, Nyctalus leisleri, Nyctalus noctula <\/em>and Pipistrellus nathusii. <\/em>Mistnetting places were at eight localities: Miejska Góra Mts., Bodzentyn – wetland with pond, Klonow - forest, Trójk\u0105t, \u015aw. Franciszka – watersource, Che\u0142mowa Góra Mts., Kakonin - forest, wetland near the road to Wola Szczygie\u0142kowa, Serwis – forest. Reproduction was confirmed in 4 species: M. brandti<\/em>, N. noctula, N. leisleri<\/em>, B. Barbastellus<\/em> lactating females were captured.<\/p>\r\n During the day time we visited together several interesting places. The first day we went to Archeological Museum Krzemionki near to Ostrow Swietokrzyski. The part of the exposition was also undergrounds where quartz had been dug. We visitit also wetland near the road to Wola Szczygie\u0142kowa. We walked to \u0141ysa Gora (\u0141ysiec) through the protected forest.
